SCARECROW'S SONG
"When a Guy is Always Blundering",
lyrics by Jeannette Jaquish
a duet with Scarecrow and Dorothy, to the tune of
"Simple Melody / Musical Demon", by Irving Berlin

Song with voices to help you learn the timing:

SCARECROW:
#1 (slow- Simple Melody):
When a guy is always blund-er-ing,
Head stuffed full of straw and pain,
Every goof gets him a-wondering,
What it’s like to have a brain;

SCARECROW:
#2 (fast-Musical Demon)
With some Smarts in my noggin,
and my memory jogging,
I could tell you all right,
Why the sun won’t shine at night,
And barking dogs never bite;

I wouldn’t Be dumb and dumber
If I wrote every number
Alphabetically,
And theoretically,
I could read in hind sight!

(SCARECROW DANCES as Dorothy sings:)

DOROTHY:
#3 (slow- Simple Melody):
Scarecrows usually protect the corn
Thru the sunshine and the rain
But you hang there feeling sad and torn,
Because you think you need a brain;

------ (NOW, THE DUET:
Scarecrow and Dorothy sing their set at the same time as each other, following the beat, but each singing the other melody.)

-------

SCARECROW:
#4 (slow- Simple Melody)
simultaneously with Dorothy's below
When a guy is always blund-er-ing,
Head stuffed full of straw and pain,
Every goof gets him a-wondering,
What it’s like to have a brain;

#5 (fast-Musical Demon)
With some Smarts in my noggin,
and my memory jogging,
I could tell you all right,
Why the sun won’t shine at night,
And barking dogs never bite;
I wouldn’t Be dumb and dumber
If I wrote every number
Alphabetically,
And theoretically,
I could read in hind sight!

----------

DOROTHY
#4: (fast-Musical Demon)
simultaneously with Scarecrow's above

With some Smarts in your noggin,
and your memory jogging,
You could tell me all right,
Why the sun won’t shine at night,
And barking dogs never bite;

You wouldn’t Be dumb and dumber
If you wrote every number
Alphabetically,
And theoretically,
You could read in hind sight!

#5 (slow- Simple Melody):
Scarecrows usually protect the corn
Thru the sunshine and the rain
But you hang there feeling sad and torn,
Because you think you need a brain;
